Message from your New President

Greetings AMTPA Members!

It is hard to believe that a few short days ago many of us gathered in Edmonton for a milestone celebration—the AMTPA’s inaugural Annual Conference. I would like to congratulate the 2022 Conference Committee Members, Bailee Boulet, Bethann Lavigne, Caroline Siverson, Charlene Byrne & Marie Walroth for creating a very informative and fun event.

Our 2022 Conference theme was “Sharing Solutions”, a goal worthy of pursuit. As the AMTPA continues to grow & develop, I believe that the foundation for a strong organization is education through collaboration. The AMTPA will also be fostering relationships with other professional organizations & with our Education Director Kerry Boogaart taking the lead, we will continue to provide our members with the opportunity to learn from experts in our field. For those of you who could not attend in person we hope that you have an opportunity to attend our upcoming webinars and to visit www.AMTPA.ca for more resources. I have received very positive comments about new relationships that were developed, how we as an association can address new challenges that were presented. I encourage all members to provide feedback on AMTPA business including educational resources, our conference, and how we can work better together.

I would like to specifically thank our outgoing President Erin Bricker, for her wisdom & vision in spearheading the creation of the AMTPA and all past Directors for their efforts in launching what is already a successful organization. As we look forward to 2023 and beyond, I believe that our organization can grow to become an expert and a leader in municipal government. If we work together, we will achieve great things!

Derek Kwiatkowski, President

2022 Conference

We have received the recordings and power point presentations from the Conference and will have these posted soon. Thank you for your patience while we work through the recording and create files for each session. We will update you once they are complete and uploaded to the site.

If you attended and haven't filled out the survey, we would appreciate your time to do so. Your feedback will enable the committee to provide you with a positive experience that you will enjoy and learn from in 2023! The survey will be closed October 31st.

Member Spotlight

Erin is our outgoing President. Erin felt that this organization was needed to network with others that are working in municipalities to learn more about property taxes. Also, to learn how to interpret the MGA and how to put it into practice especially tax recovery.

As she leaves the organization in a position to achieve great things, we want to thank her for all she has done.

Erin works at Town of High River and has worked there for 7 years beginning in the utilities department and then moving to taxes. Erin began at the Town with 20 years of experience in the field of accounting in both public entities and private corporations.

"I spend a lot of my free time with my miniature horses. I train and show and also volunteer for the miniature horse club. I also love spending time outdoors and taking trips to the mountains with my spouse."

Erin is taking a break from many of her volunteer activities to complete her business degree.

We wish Erin luck in her studies and thank her again for her vision in getting our Association off the ground floor.
