Empowering Tax Professionals Across Alberta

August 2025 | Issue 35

"August is like the Sunday of summer."

President's Message

Dear Colleagues,

Are you ready to step into a leadership role and help shape the future of our association? Serving as a volunteer Board member offers a valuable opportunity to strengthen your personal and professional growth while making a meaningful impact in your municipality and across the province. Nominations are now open for the following positions: President, Treasurer, Director of Advocacy, Director of Education and Auditor. I encourage anyone interested to submit their nomination—your voice and experience matter!

Conference Update: Our Conference Committee has been working diligently to deliver a high-quality event packed with valuable learning and meaningful networking opportunities.

Policy Engagement:  On August 7th, I attended Part 2 of the Stakeholder Discussion Sessions on the Province’s Business Improvement Area (BIA) Regulation Policy Review alongside other municipal stakeholders. We are keen to continue the dialogue toward thoughtful improvements.

Inter-Provincial Collaboration: I'm honoured to attend the upcoming annual conference hosted by the Ontario Municipal Tax and Revenue Association (OMTRA). With their generous offer of complimentary registration and accommodations, I look forward to sharing insights, building relationships, participating in valuable educational sessions and exploring opportunities for collaboration that benefit both our organizations.

Wishing you a relaxing and sunny end to summer—I look forward to reconnecting with many of you at the AMTPA Conference!

Warm regards,

Denise Schmaltz

Got a Great Idea? Get Rewarded!

We’re planning future education sessions and conference keynotes—and we’d love your ideas!
