As property tax practitioners in Alberta, we often present our profession bashfully. In truth, however, Alberta's property tax system is quite remarkable and worthy of acclaim. This session aims to delve into the unique nature of Alberta's property tax system -- its strengths and its weaknesses -- and how it might be presented in a light that demonstrates it to be an effective, efficient and fair tax.

Speaker Bio

Anton Szabo holds a Masters Degree from the University of Alberta in Political Science and completed the Masters of Advanced International Studies program at the University of Vienna. He began his career as an Edmonton City Council political staffer and transitioned to a member of Edmonton’s Administration in 2011. Since that time, he has held a variety of positions with both Assessment and Taxation as well as Intergovernmental Affairs. He currently holds the position of the Director of Taxation within the City of Edmonton’s Assessment and Taxation Branch.
